Marcus Theatres wanted to bring a theatre to Southbridge Crossing in Shakopee, Minnesota, that could comply with local municipality height restrictions and provide high-quality sound and video while saving space to allow for future expansion. A spring opening deadline meant battling a harsh Minnesota winter during the final stages of construction.
To incorporate two massive 70’ “UltraScreens” while staying within height restrictions, Paradigm had them pushed down into the earth (not an easy task, thanks to inclement weather and groundwater from nearby river flood plains). To save space, Paradigm designed a booth-less structure, with projection and sound equipment integrated into the auditoriums. The theatre also houses Marcus’s Take Five cocktail lounge, Zaffiro’s Express Pizza, and heated recliners in every auditorium – making it the perfect escape from cold Minnesota winters!
