CLIENT OBJECTIVE

The client sought to transform an existing retail tenant space at the Mills at Jersey Gardens into a vibrant Round1 Bowling & Arcade location. Situated just minutes from Newark Airport, the goal was to deliver an inviting and dynamic entertainment venue within the mall. The client’s vision included a variety of attractions such as bowling lanes, billiards, karaoke party rooms, an expansive redemption arcade, and food & beverage offerings – all designed to draw foot traffic and provide a unique recreational experience for a diverse customer base.

PD SOLUTION

Paradigm Design successfully converted the space into a fully realized Round1 location, incorporating eight Brunswick bowling lanes, billiards tables, karaoke rooms, a 19,000 SF redemption arcade, bar, snack bar, and dedicated pickleball courts – enhancing the range of active entertainment options. The site posed notable challenges: it was located on an old landfill, which required that all work remain above the cap to avoid costly delays and environmental complications. Additionally, rooftop solar panels restricted mechanical equipment placement, requiring strategic design coordination. The team preserved and enhanced a large existing exterior structure at the entrance, utilizing it for bold signage and a custom wall-mounted bowling pin. This project was also one of the first to implement Round1’s updated interior design palette, featuring new finishes, colors, and flooring – contributing to a refreshed and welcoming atmosphere at the mall entrance.
